Inserting Clip Art, Movies, Sounds and Photos into a PowerPoint Slide

PowerPoint 2002 comes with its own set of Clip Art, Movies, Sounds and Photos for you to use. You can also insert your own items into PowerPoint slides.

Insert clip art Insert pictures and photographs
Add personal graphics to the ClipGallery

Insert Clip Art
  1. Display the slide that you want to add Clip Art into
  2. Change the slide layout to a version that has a placeholder for Clip Art
  3. Click the Clip Art icon on the Drawing Toolbar
  4. The Select Picture dialog box appears
  5. Locate the image you want to use
  6. Click the image you want and click OK
  7. The image is inserted into the slide
  8. To add Clip Art to a slide using any layout style you:
  9. Click Insert from the Menubar
  10. Point to Picture and then click on Clip Art
  11. Go to step #4 above and follow the remaining steps

Insert Movies or Sounds
  1. Display the slide you want to add a movie or sound into
  2. Click Insert, then click one of four choices:
  3. Movies from Clip Organizer - movies from other sources
  4. Movie form File - your movies loaded onto your computer
  5. Sounds from Clip Organizer - sounds already on your computer
  6. Sound from File - sounds you have added to your computer
  7. Pick on of the four choices above
  8. If you are picking from the Organizer, point to a movie or sound and an arrow appears. Click Preview/Properties - sound or movie is previewed. Once you have the movie or sound you want click on it.
  9. If you are picking your own movie or sounds, click on ... from File (one of the four choices above). A dialog box appears. Locate your sound or movie and click on it.
  10. A dialog box appears asking if you want the movie or sound to play automatically when the slide appears - otherwise it plays when you click on it. Answer yes or no as you desire.
  11. The first frame of the movie or a sound icon appears on the slide. You can reposition it by dragging it.
 

 

Insert pictures and photographs from other programs and locations
  1. From the INSERT menu, choose PICTURE and then choose FROM FILE
  2. Use the open dialog box to find the picture you need to insert
  3. Double click that picture to insert it
  4. Position the picture by dragging it around the slide
  5. Rezise as necessary buy clicking the picture and dragging from the corresponding corner icons that appear
  6. Altenative method: follow the steps above for inserting clip art and select a slide layout that has an Insert Picture icon
